The Park France military museum is a museum dedicated to the Second World War located in La Wantzenau in Alsace. This museum brings together the collection of its founder, Éric Kauffmann, one of the most important in Europe, and the Sussex 1944 collection. The museum opened its doors on March 1, 2017, more than 7 years after the launch of the project initiated by Éric Kauffmann. The latter, who bought the building in 2010, wanted to bring his collection together in one place. He started it in barns and abandoned houses, then traveled around the world, from the United States to Russia to bring back a Soviet tank. After 20 years spent collecting all these rare objects, he now offers his collection to the general public in this park which is intended to be fun and educational. The MM Park France is, with its 7,000 m2, one of the largest museums in Europe dedicated to the Second World War. On the ground floor there are two large exhibition halls including vehicles.

Congrats Kevin! It couldn't happen to a nicer person and someone who has helped guide me in my collecting. -
I have wondered what the angle or purpose was too considering that the item was priced so far out of line. At first I thought most were people selling items out of their bailiwick but then I noticed differently. My conclusion is that they have an interesting item and they want you to look at their other items so they post it at unseasonable price as a lead to look at their items. It appears to work.

I received a book from a Frenchman who helped with the rescue and hiding of a downed bomber. It is in French, so I'll see if I can find it and scan the book for you if you're interested.

Unmarked model 1855 bayonet?
brad k replied to phantomfixer's topic in (1776-1860) AMERICAN REVOLUTION, WAR OF 1812, MEXICAN-AMERICAN WAR, AMERICAN INDIAN WARS TO 1865
I measured the muzzle ends of both the sharps and the 1855 bayonets, I came up with 12/16 for the 1855 and 13/16 for the sharps. the sharps bayonet will go on the springfield but is a sloppy fit, the springfield bayonet wont go on the sharps. -

I'm with manayunkma, my gut says this is soap box/folk art paint. Clearly has some age to it though. If you haven't tried searching fold3 I have an account there I could try looking the name up if you'd like. -

Wow ! There’s my helmet! Top right in first photo in post 8. Ugo. Greco - 2nd Beach Bn. So great that I found that helmet in a flea market in NJ amongst a pile of junk and it made its way back to Normandy for all to see and appreciate . Thanks for taking and posting the photo. -
Ken, Thank you for the quick ID. I haven’t had time to research it yet as I bought a ton of stuff and still sorting through. Peter

US Navy Gator Navy jumpers with insignia

While it’s obvious that they were worn on either sleeve, my reasoning that the minority went on the right is because in the left, they are in the position where the Hashmarks go. As for SSI and rating badges, they had specific locations to be placed. -
What reproduction double buckle boots are the best value for price and which have the best and most accurate cuffs? Thanks!

The case is much later than Vietnam. The addition of the elastic loop and the dark grey pad make me think 1990's. As for the medal, the fact that it isn't maker marked gives me pause as everything that I have seem post WWII has had a maker mark on it. I also question the lack of "the Congress to" engraving on the back of the suspension bar. I would want a lot more detailed photos of the pendant before giving you a thumbs up or a thumbs down, but I am not liking what I am seeing. Allan

They changed them at the very end of the war. I don’t believe the pants with the pocket flaps were used however. There was one with one back button that was used.

JD, that picture of the 4 uniforms is perfect---what a poster that would make.... please add lots of images of the Wolverine uniform--if these uniforms are rare, the the officer versions are even rarer... Al -

why? Pretty sure they were still using this gear in Vietnam. Could have been together for a long time.

Finally found a WW2 model airplane dressed in civilian clothes. And while we’re at it I’ll take 3 B-25s.
