VolunteerArmoury Posted September 14, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 14, 2007 I have a white saucer cap from The Citadel with a US Seal insignia like that of US Army officers but w/o the stars due to The Citadel scroll over top of that. It came with a couple of Coastal Artillery officers insignia with The Citadel across the top of them. When I get home from Ft. Knox, I can show take a picture of them. But, I was told that in the late 1940's The Citadel dropped the traditional cadet corps uniforms and adopted uniforms like that of US Army officers but with The Citadel distinguishing marks. Does anyone have photos of these? It has been a while since I was at their museum but seems there were some there. Thanks for your time.
VMI88 Posted September 15, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 15, 2007 I can't speak to Citadel uniforms, but VMI had a cap badge similar to the one you describe. It was worn by First Classmen (i.e., seniors) on a uniform that they wore on special occasions. I would recommend contacting the Citadel museum by email -- I'm sure they'll be able to answer your question.
