751st MP Bn (I liked the back stitch so much, I left it on the DI when I removed it from a ratty jacket - 15th Army patch on sleeve) Approv 1943 ONLY made in cloth for unit and worn that way until 1946.

Let's show some MP DIs for reference. 712th MP Bn 719th MP Bn 725th MP Bn (neat design) 747th MP Bn (plastic) and 774th MP Bn (comprised mostly of LAPD policemen). Mottos on last two difficult to read - 747th MP IN OFFICIO IMPAVIDUS 774th MP PRO LEGE AC JURE

As J.E.B. Stuart said "Jine the Cavalry". To start, here are some armored car squadrons: 1st, 461st, and 462nd (motto on 461st translates to "We Pounce Upon Them")

Two different 80th Armored Medical Battalion 10h Armored Division, no doubt a unauthorized German made occupation period ones one sees with so many units of battalion size that had no unit crest for it.

Design appr 1-1943; there were many medical and armored medicas battalions w/ DIs, approved or not.

Thanks tred, wonder now if the first one we posted is a U.S. made one, the second one, no that looks it could be German.

Here are some WW II era and post WW 2 military railway service and transportation railway service examples. ASMIC has published a nice full color catalog of these and many others, to include rare cloth patches for these units.

706th Railway Grand Division (WW 2) and 706th Transportation Group (1960s)

These next two posts will be double headers - featuring originally cavalry unit DIs in turn worn by redesignated Constabulary units.

Top is 4th Cavalry Cav Gp (WW 2) and then 4th Constab Regt, stationed in Linz, Austria). Bottom is 6th Cavalry Gp (WW 2) and then 6th Constab Regt.

These are all from the same unit - 81st Cavalry Recon Sq (1st AD, WW 2) and then the 81st Constab Sq. The one on the bottom is painted vs. the other two enameled versions.

I’ll add some of my more interesting DUI in my collection. First 114th Signal Radio Intelligence Company which was the unit tasked with monitoring German radio signals in the Arden forest before and during the battle of the bulge. Next University Training Center Florence, an interesting woven 300th infantry dui encased on plastic, and finally a dui for the army signal Camp Crowder.

I don’t collect Distinctive Insignia myself but will make an exception for cloth ones of this quality.

271st FA Japanese made quilted silk with bullion border.
Motto = Give it a Go.

Bought the lot for the pocket patch, but decided to keep the DIs with it. All three pieces are GM made and for the 1st Field Artillery Rocket Battery.

That’s a nice one, I raise you a 61st FA similarly made with quilted back and bullion boarder. Found still on the uniform.
