Just received my first order from Hayes. Fast shipping, item was as described. No problems. I did call in my order. What a hoot. That was fun, I listened to a 38 minute one-way conversation about the state of collecting militaria. I will definetely buy from him again. Thanks Hayes.

Hayes accidentally sold me a package of bandages as WWII, but it turned out that the package was dated '53.
No problem for Hayes and the returned me the money, great service! Recommended to all!

Post war fire helmet. That why it has a leather flap in the back. To keep stuff from dropping in where it shouldn't.

Post WW2 indeed, I see these from time to time repainted and attempts being made at passing them off as fire police/wartime minus the leather flap. They should be appreciated for what they are, and left as this one is.
Fortunately if found being passed off the liner or chinstrap is usually an off variety from WW2 forms, and rather hard to hide that hideous yellow/green finish, and it's radium that imbues that nice early low light glow.
Good to be seen in the dark... or smoke, usually can't see squat in heavy smoke so anything helps, and I agree... nice not having the little hot bobbles and flaming bits or for that matter all that boiling water that comes back down and hunts for any opening in your gear.
