Experimental M14 nylon horizontal mag pouch. A version of this pouch also exists in the vertical position but I do not have one of those.

Thanks, there isn't much info around on the M26 grenade pouch. There is a pic and short blurb in Stanton's VN book.

The other stuff was part of the USMC experimental XM1964 nylon gear study. I have a separate thread here on the XM1964 pack that goes with this stuff.

Hello Everyone

I just picked up an experimental M-14H pouch earlier this week. I know this is an older post but thought I would include picks of my pouch here. in this thread.

I found some info on http://www.vietnamgear.com/kit.aspx?kit=698 they have pics of this and the Vertical version.

I found this info online as well http://oai.dtic.mil/oai/oai?verb=getRecord&metadataPrefix=html&identifier=AD0809272 an interesting description of the report.

Here are pics of my pouch

Nice find. I always love to see the experimental stuff. I recently picked up the experimental LINCLOE canteen cover.

Thanks Craig. I was lucky enough to get two of them, one with the plastic keepers and one with the regular M1956 keepers. Here are my shovel covers. The M1956 type has a standard M1951 combination shovel in it but the M1967 type has the prototype shovel made by True Temper and dated 1967. I also picked up the nylon butt pack a while ago and had posted it before but can't find the post. I'll see if I can get the photos back on.

Thanks Justin. I thought I had the photos of my nylon pack on this computer but I can't find them. I'll see if I can dig it out and post some new ones.

Thanks for all the additional photos Tim. The only other 67 shovel and cover I have ever seen used to be on display at the QM Museum at Ft Lee, VA. I think it is fair to call that one rare.

The only official picture I've ever seen of this cover is in the Sniper manual from 1969.

Here is the nylon pack. It is faintly marked U.S. on the front and "PACK, FIELD COMBAT" on the rear.
