I picked these two photos up at an antique mall and wanted to see if any one could id a time period. I firgure they are WW2 or Korea. Also thought I would share them here.

The first photo is of 7 soldiers. If i am correct the man in the front center is a sergeant. it looks as though they all have M-1 carbines. It appears the only gear they have is a 1936 belt with on ammo pouch and a pack w/shoulder strap. Two patches are visible but i know nothing about them. Can anyonw ID them?

Second looks to be of some camp in winter. Enjoy

The first picture is WWII-era. If you look closely at the carbines, they are all missing the bayonet lug which suggests they are WWII issue. As far as I know, carbines in possession of the US Army were upgraded very late and post-war. The guy in the front center is a Staff-Sergeant and the guy behind him looks to be a Technician 5th Grade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Army_enlisted_rank_insignia_of_World_War_II).

Hope this helps.

Also, these soldiers are wearing the low cut ankle boot with gaiters. (Leggings) By Korea, the M43 double buckle boot was in wide use in the field. I agree - both pics appear to be WWII.
