Can anyone recognize the Insignia on my Fathers ID card? Don't know if it helps but he was stationed at Luzon, Manila in I think late 1945 and 1946. His Seperation paper says he was with the 1387th ENG EBO CO . I don't know what that means other than he was in the Engineers. I posted his Seperation paper in this same forum.

That's the US forces western pacific insignia. I used to have a 4 pocket tunic with that as a SSI.

Patch on Ebay

Thank You Walt175,

I have a black and white pic of my Father in Manila that shows only a small part of this patch. I thought that it matched the insignia on the ID card. Man I've spent weeks looking thru patches to see if I could see one that looked like it but with no luck. I owe you big time! I went ahead and bought the one from Ebay. They have to forward me their name and address but still want their payment no later than 7 days...wish me luck.

Thank You Sir!

The Engineers were rebuilding Manila then. Check out this thread and you'll see that emblem on a medal that had stamped for some R&R games: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ind...?showtopic=8424

That explains the pics I have of my Father standing in front of construction on Bridges,Barracks and Demolition of destroyed buildings.

Thank You

All have been a big help!

This is the best picture I have of my Father in the Phillipines, showing the shoulder patch I spoke of, and the ID card.

Better late than never.......... But Thanks to your help, I was able to pick up a couple of the SSI patches.
He also spoke of winning a boxing match in some games. I wonder if that may have the games you speak of. He had said he was the middle weight champion during part of his stay there.
Any idea where I might be able to locate one of those games medals?
I have quite a few more pics......... looks as though the games didn't deter him from the "Pom Pom" girls !!

Cheers,

Your father's unit was the 1387th Engineer Base Depot Company.

tredhead2,

I wondered if that was a typo.
On his discharge paper it's listed on both the front and back as the 1387th EBO.
In trying to search using EBO I'd come up with nothing.
It gets confusing because of so many Engineers being grouped together, for the possible rebuilding.
I'll try looking into EBD.

Thank You,
