Well here is my first complete WWII Ike jacket. Found this on Ebay and though I did alright with a final price of $26.00. Jacket is in very nice condition with only 2 small holes. Size is a 38R and the tag is intact and dated June 9th, 1944.

The ADSEC patch is my favorite WWII patch which is the reason I purchased it. The ADSEC patch has the "Oise" tab sewn below and on the opposite shoulder is a 9th Army patch which im 90% sure is a greenback. Tech4 stripes are embroidered on wool and all of the patches look to be machined sewn. Collar insingia is the 1942 clutch back type and for Artillery. Can someone tell me what was the purpose of an artilleryman in ADSEC? The ribbons are all singles, WWII Victory, Good Conduct, American Campaign, and European, African and Middle-Eastern campaign ribbon with 2 stars (1 is missing). Another Good conduct and ETO campaign bar (with 2 stars) were also in teh pocket. Ruptured duck is printed on khaki and is different from those I have seen before. Is this theater made or just another variant? 3 oversea service bars are also present.

Only ID is V7484. This is where the fun starts. I want to find out who owned this and began to search NARA. Due to the fact that NARA needs the first 3 digits of the serial number, I went through the entire 3###7484 series today and found 8 guys with last names that start with V. I'm going to go through the 4####### range sometime soon. Is there another source that will let me search with just the last 4 numbers? Where else should I be researching other than NARA for records? It will be a long shot to discover who this belonged to, but if I have to mail off requests for 8 different guys to NARA, I will (If they'll let me...)

Thanks for the help!

Was the seller a militaria dealer, antique dealer or person just selling the coat? Did you ask th eseller if they had any more information on the vet? And a final question, what state did it come out of? If its a militaria dealer, the last question may be meaningless, but it could help to knock down some of the options.

Thanks for the reply Beast.

I purchased it from Ebay from a vintage clothing seller and I did ask where it came from, but they didn't reply. It came out of Canada, Toronto to be specific, so that didn't help either.
