ww2vault Posted August 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 19, 2007 Hi, I bought some great items from a member here called, Letitflyantiques, AKA Steve. He was a pleasure doing business with and would gladly buy from him again. He sold items yesterday ranging from WWI and WWII patches, uniforms, Roman artifacts, ancient coins, ect. ect. I ended up buying three uniforms along with a child's patch jacket and ten patches which all came to $65. The photos attached in this post are of the front and backside of the patches which all came to $20. - Jeff
ww2vault Posted August 19, 2007 Author Share #2 Posted August 19, 2007 Next is the child's jacket which I bought for $20. There use to be a lot more patches sewn onto the jacket but some time in the past they were taken off, one that was taken off looks some what like the 1st Calvery Division patch. There use to be thirteen patches on it but now there are only four, all dealing with the Army Air Corps. - Jeff
ww2vault Posted August 19, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted August 19, 2007 Next on the list is a 1950 issued officers jacket with a 1944 pattern date. There is a 1st Infantry Division patch on one sleeve and a overseas made TRUST patch on the other. This jacket cost $8. - Jeff
ww2vault Posted August 20, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted August 20, 2007 Next is a 1945 dated khaki jacket with a 1st Infantry patch. Also it came with 1944 dated pants. This was for a total of $8 as well. - Jeff
ww2vault Posted August 20, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted August 20, 2007 The final jacket comes with a set of pants as well. The jacket has a 1st Infantry patch and had another patch sewn onto the other sleeve but it was taken off at some point. The jacket is dated 1942 and the pants are dated 1943. Following suit with the last two uniforms, this set was $8 as well. Also, I forgot to add that I found a sticky piece of paper in one of the pockets of the 1950's uniform. It mentions a hotel which is located in Germany, right near the border of Austria. Hitlers sister was in the same town near the end of the war. - Jeff
ww2vault Posted February 18, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted February 18, 2008 Hi, I acquired a nice grouping today, not spectacular, but modest. I met a Korean War vet today that was selling some of his military things at a moving sale. His name was Jim Sears and he was a really nice guy. He is going to send me a letter that will contain information about everything he did in the service. From what I gathered, he was in the 3rd AD, in the 7th Army. The Korean War really isn't my fortay, but I couldn't pass up a great deal and such a nice guy. The items he was selling was two swagger sticks that belonged to him when he was in the service, a really cool piece of trench art, and a load of patches and stuff. The silver handled swagger stick has his initials on the end, JMS and the other swagger stick has a couple things added onto it that is pictured below. The patches mainly consist of AD, name tags, some 7th Army, and collar tab covers. There seem to be two yellow bullion type tabs that must of attached to the shoulder somehow, i'm not quite sure. There are also two OD tab covers that use two have a rank insignia on both but only one still has it. The trench art piece is really quite neat. It is made from a 105MM shell that has a air ventilated piece sticking up from the middle. The shell casing is marked 1945 on the bottom and Jim told me that his CO soddered on some DUI's of the units he belonged to around the outside. So while this is not a spectacular find, it is really quite nice, especially at the grand total of $5.00. I wish I came across more groupings like this. - Jeff

ww2vault Posted March 16, 2008 Author Share #12 Posted March 16, 2008 Hi, Well I hit pay dirt today. I visited one of my local hot spots and got a nice haul. Everything pictured below came to an unbelievable total of $35. There are way to many papers and documents to post individual pictures so if you see anything that interests you, let me know and I will get a close shot of it. Now I know a few things are from other countries and aren't U.S. related but I think you could let it by this one time. Now to begin the long list of items. .:. 8th Army 1945 Ike Jacket; Has his last name, Kendall, wrtitten in ink on the inside. .:. 1st Armored Division 1945 Ike Jacket; Has S-5206 written in ink inside, I think it is the last four digits of his ASN. .:. 8mm, 1939 dated German bullets in the original package. .:. Various German patches; Including, ranks and some type of Eagle Bullion patch. .:. WWI German Hindenberg Cross; Posthumous. .:. Belgium Civic Decoration - Class I. .:. Another WWI medal, not sure what it is. .:. 1943 Air Navigation Manual. Thats it for none document items. The rest consist of pre-WWI, WWI, and WWII documents. I will try and take as many detailed pictures as I can. As I said, if you want a close up on a certain item let me know. - Jeff

ww2vault Posted March 16, 2008 Author Share #15 Posted March 16, 2008 Thus endths the listed items, now for the documents. All of the documents pictured below are in one way or another related to a military aspect, such as one photograph that shows a dinner party and one man is wearing a button that has V for victory on it. First off, a group of papers dating back to 1865 that belonged to a quartermaster. Next is a group of papers from WWII, two of which are from Germany. - Jeff
ww2vault Posted March 16, 2008 Author Share #16 Posted March 16, 2008 The next group is made up of various papers that range from WWI portrait photos to a dinner menu aboard the U.S.S. Steamer Bay and WWII era maps. The following group consists of some more WWII maps, a WWI portrait photo, and a couple para-trooping photos but they appear to be post-war for there are a couple African-Americans with them. - Jeff
ww2vault Posted March 16, 2008 Author Share #17 Posted March 16, 2008 The last group of documents consists of some photos, dinner menus, maps, and one paper from 1917 that is titled, "Problems With Trench Warfare". I also included a closer shot of the one photo depicting some paratroopers sitting inside the plane. That concludes the haul and if you want to see something closer just let me know. It's not a haul of web gear and uniforms which excite most people, but to me, paper items are absolutely fascinating and in some ways, much better then a bunch of equipment. I will have to visit the place again soon, I saw another bag full of documents that included quite a few photos of various WWII planes but I was unable to get them today. Enjoy! - Jeff

ww2vault Posted April 5, 2008 Author Share #20 Posted April 5, 2008 Hi, Yesterday I came across a great deal on a large group of items. Everything I got came from the same source that my last big haul came from a couple weeks ago. Everything listed and pictured below came to a total of $46. Enjoy! Also, if anyone would like more detailed shots of a particular item, please don't hesitate to ask. The first picture has a variety of items which are listed below: .:. A WWII troop shot of the 4th Anti-Aircraft Training Battalion. .:. A WWII troop shot of the 58th Battalion in Camp Howze, Texas. .:. A WWII troop shot of the 138th Infantry, Camp Robinson - 1941. .:. A WWII MKII Training Grenade. (Not the fake blue spooned one I posted recently.) .:. Named Duffel Bag. .:. Two Sweetheart Pillow Cases. .:. 1942 Dated Mess Tray with a name and ASN scratched on it. .:. A Small Brown Bag With the name and ASN of a soldier. .:. A 1942 Metal Stamping Kit. (Quite Neat.) .:. Spent 1943 .30 Cal round. .:. Two Ammo Clips. .:. WWI German Wound Badge. .:. A 1945 .38 Cal Pistol Holster. .:. A Brown Package of Eye Shield Anti-Gas MK. IIIE. Goggle Lenses. .:. A WWII Camouflage German Cargo Parachute. - Jeff
Manchu Warrior Posted April 5, 2008 Share #21 Posted April 5, 2008 Wow, the stamping set alone is $100 to $150 great buy.
ww2vault Posted April 5, 2008 Author Share #22 Posted April 5, 2008 On with the show... .:. (Top) Khaki 9th Service Command Shirt, Named and has ASN. .:. (Bottom, Left) Battle Hardened Mackinaw. It appears to have been heavily used during the war and I think has been re-issued to two different soldiers for there are two names, both with ASN's. My guess is the first guy either got wounded or KIA and it was re-issued. Whats more interesting is some red stains on it. I'm no expert on 65 year blood stains but it sort of looks like some to me. .:. (Bottom, Right) Belgian Army Tunic, looks like they were in the Medical Corps. - Jeff

ww2vault Posted April 5, 2008 Author Share #25 Posted April 5, 2008 Hmm, for some reason my edit option for the above post is gone. Here is the description of the items pictured in the above post: .:. (Top) 1944 Dated, Named, Ike Jacket with Far East patch and medals/rank insignia. Has his pants, tie, and belt as well. .:. (Second Row, Left) 1942 Dated, Named, Class A Officers Jacket with 20th Air Force patch and medals/rank insignia. Has his pants as well. .:. (Second Row, Right) 24th Infantry Division Trench Coat with rank insignia. .:. (Third Row, Left) 1942 Dated, Named, pants. .:. (Third Row, Middle) USN HBT Pants, named. .:. (Third Row, Right) Interesting pair of pants. They look like Calvary pants, there are no markings on them but the buttons on the front say US Army. There are laces at the ankles to lace them up. Looks some what WWII made but I am thinking maybe it is from WWI. .:. (Bottom) Army Air Force Pipped Enlisted Mans Overseas Cap. - Jeff
