.223 Armalite Waffle Mag Follower Question

Hello to all. Here is a photo of the follower on an ArmaLite waffle-side .223 mag. Notice embossed "S". Can anyone comment on what this stands for? Should this "S" be on all of these mags' followers ? We have one of these mags with correct floorplate but no "S" on follower. Has the follower been replaced? It appears to be of comparable age and usage as the rest of the mag, but obviously that's totally subjective. Many thanks for any replies.

For those who might be interested, here is some information on this follower marking:

'S' marked followers indicate a production mag made for the AF. Earlier ones were not marked. The original followers were not cast - they were stamped.
