Brig Posted August 12, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2007 Here are several sets of mini pilot wings in my collection. I was wondering if you guys could help with some eras and other questions. Top wing. 1.5" long. Rear has a broken pin and is marked 'sterling' and appears to have some sodder marks. I think it's WWII, but I don't know anything about Army wings. Any ideas? Second wing. 1 3/8" long. Different style wings than the top, noticably the shield. Is this because of era or manufactorer? Rear has a pin with a clasp different than the one above. Marked sterling over a bell shape (Balfour mark?). can't remember the maker mark. Third wing, Navy. 1 5/8" long. Has a pierced anchor and no rope on the anchor, but two bits of metal at the feet of the anchor to the shield for added stability. Rear is unmarked. Any ideas on era or maker? Fourth wing, Navy. A little over 1.5" long. rear has a backwards pin, which I take to have been reattached. Marked '307'. any ideas? Fifth wing, Navy. 1" long. Shiney. rear has a pin that extands past the wingtip. Unmarked. Sweetheart piece or what? Era? thanks Sixth wing, Navy. 1" long. rear unmarked, but has a loop on the pin for I assume a chain, my guess is sweetheart device, WWII? thanks for the help wing gurus!
