.50 Ammunition Gun Box, Aircraft

I purchased this at the local gunshow today. I have no earthly idea what I'm going to do with it but I thought it was pretty cool. I thought these would be made out of metal but that isn't the case. Some sort of plastic, fiberglass or bakalite material. Size in inches: 6 x 11 x 16 tall.
Is the A-25 designation for the "helldiver"? Does this item date to WWII?

Yep, nice score, Ammo box for the "helldiver". As you said they are normally made of some kind of composition board and aluminum. Boxes like this were used for both fixed and flexible locations on some aircraft. Good find.

As I look at it again, it could actually be some sort of fiber board construction.
This will be the closest I'll ever get to owning a "piece" of an historic airplane like that.

Even more Rare since the Army rejected the A-25 for the most part. Nice Score.
