Vincennes Posted August 31, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 31, 2010 I bought a large folder (13x18") about 3-4" thick with issues of "The Stars And Stripes" newspapers from WW2. They are all various European editions from 1944-1945. The quality is mixed with some papers in almost perfect shape, although all are yellow aged. Included in the set was one damaged issue of SHAEF (May 2, 1945) proclaiming HITLER IS DEAD. It says it is the "Parachur Edition" so I assume it was dropped over foreign countries. It is 4 pages and each page is a different language. I think they are: English (shown below), French, Polish, and German. Also included was 1 4 page issue of the German newspaper "Ostdeutscher Beobachter" from July 17, 1944. The top half of the front page of that newspaper will be posted below. I am surprised these old newspapers have survived. Paul
