Someone with the right kind of EGA lust, dollars and mischievous behavior just might come around and just throw a bid down. Would it have not made more sense to place a advertisement?

Well, he certainly got our attention didn't he? And if he sells it for $1,500 do you think he'd be broken hearted? What is a single of these worth?

I've only known of one other pair with their hallmark. It went thru private auction house (estate sale) for 2k plus some 3-4 years ago. In today's soft market, IMHO $8-900. would be an appropriate start, if it has provenance, who knows? But there are a finite number of collectors at that level with deep pockets... The real question becomes; is one willing to put forth that kind of money in hopes of locating a reasonable match. Frankly, I have no idea if there was a matching cap emblem made for the collars? Perhaps Gary or Bob knows?

I invited the guy who listed that on Ebay to join the forum and he has done so. I'll ask him to jump in on this thread.

I'd list it at 10,000 or higher if I was going to gamble with it

maybe he just found the matching emblem

It could be that he found a match? Bob has mentioned he joined the forum yesterday... perhaps we will hear from him soon and find out if he did succeed in his quest for a mate ;)

See my comments in post six. With the recent auction of a pre WW1 USMC tunic in
excess of 5K... the market for these rarities will only go up http://www.usmilitar...tyle_emoticons/default/pinch.gif

That tunic went that high because two people threw in bids well in excess of what it was worth...one of them being me. The value is far below what it went for. Isn't E-bay great!
