kfields Posted July 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2010 I purchased this undated Christmas card this morning at the flea market. I assumed it was CV-18 in that I also bought a couple of other propeller driven aircraft photographs taken on an aircraft carrier and dated 1952 on the back of those. However the more I study the flight deck of this image vs known images of CV-7 & CV-18, I'm not so sure. Anybody know for sure? Kim
kfields Posted July 18, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted July 18, 2010 For what it's worth, here's the other two pictures of aircraft I also bought this morning. One of the photos is marked "March'52 off Jax, Fla. AJ1". The other has "dillard" written on it too. I bought all 3 images out of the same 3 inch stack of photos so that's all I know about it. collectsmedals Posted July 18, 2010 Share #3 Posted July 18, 2010 It is USS Wasp CV-18. CV-7 had a tripod masted bridge forward of the funnels and did not have the side cranes visible on your photograph.
