Bob Hudson Posted July 22, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2007 Found this one at the swap meet: it's a boonie hat that belonged to a Navy corpsman who served with the Marines in Iraq. It is signed by fellow corpsmen and Marines, is dated 2003 and indicates he was with the "3/4 BAS" which I assume is the battalion aid station for the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines. Here's a shot I found online of some corpsmen from this detachment:
CNY Militaria Posted July 22, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 22, 2007 I wonder why he would give up this item so quickly? Did the seller have any info on the individual?
Bob Hudson Posted July 22, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted July 22, 2007 I wonder why he would give up this item so quickly? Did the seller have any info on the individual? I think the seller was someone who buys the contents of abandoned self storage units (the person renting the unit stops paying rent and never responds to queries from the manager - there's a statutory process that has to be followed). I first saw this a week or two ago but sort of glossed over it - but Saturday I picked it up again, put it down, and then thought, "wait a minute...!" I think it was $2.
