And the 4th Inf Div and the 1st Cav Div together, interesting combination, full color Ivy Div patch, no discernible U.S. ARMY tape, with what appears to be a metal CIB, no rank either, a Pvt?, the Cav guy, he's got the tape, a subdued Blanket Patch, and full color Pfc rank., photo probably from late 66 into 67 when the Cav was operated in the Central Highlands.

Several soldiers wearing the Support Command tab over their Eighth Army SSI in Korea. Note the officer in the second picture also sports a Ranger tab. And what are the white shoulder cords and bands around the caps in the third picture?

I don't know how long ago you asked your question pertaining to the white shoulder cords and bands around the caps in the third picture, but I do believe I have an answer. During military exercises there were higher ranking NCO's acting as Judges and the way to identify these people were by the white bands.

Where in Korea and when were these pictures taken? Based on the uniform of the Spec 4, the year appears to be in the 1960's. I too was stationed at Camp Red Cloud located in Uijongbu, Korea from March 1968 through April 1969.

If there are others out there who were stationed at Camp Red Cloud, please reply. I was assigned to Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 21st Direct Support Group - HHC, 21st DSG, Camp Red Cloud located in Uijongbu, Korea.

Regards,

Eric

Here's a pic I found junking with my mom on a recent trip. Not quite sure if this is his mom or his wife/girlfriend. No id on the back.

AAA Eastern Defense Command, even looks like a wool version of the patch.

Army Ground Forces SSI worn by a Signal Corps photographer with captured German soldiers on the beaches of Morocco during Operation Torch in November 1942, possibly the first day of the invasion. SSI of any type were a rare sight on field uniforms at this stage of the war.

Great foto, reminds me of the other post, an early one where this patch is seen as Combat one.
