A Pre Airborne Tab 82nd Division patch sighting.

A soldier of the 326th Infantry circa March-August 1942, his name is Pfc. Adam Lucas and apparently switched to AAA as he's listed as in E Battery 80th Airborne Anti-Aircraft Battalion.

Is that on OD boarder 82nd? If so I wonder if the OD's were suppose to have been worn without the a/b tab?

It's actually hadd to tell, my first impression was that it was a standard Red non OD border.

Doglas MacArthur as a major general. Photos of MacArthur wearing any SSI are extremely rare. I believe he is wearing the patch of the Philippine Department here which he commanded from October 1928 to October 1930.

Albert Blithe, in the 1950s while assigned to the 82nd Abn Div. Blithe of course was in E Co 506th PIR in WWII, and his story in The Band of Brothers had him famously dying in the rather immediate post war period from wounds suffered in Normandy, how they managed to screw that one up is beyond me .

More great stuff on Master Sergeant Al Blithe in the early 60s, who's reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated :D.

Brigadier General George Columbus Barnhardt wearing the first style SSI approved for the Hawaiian Division in 1921 before being redesignated for the 24th Infantry Division during World War II. This would be sometime in the 1920s as the general died in 1930.

One more WWII Replacement School Command GI. He's affected an interesting way of crushing his cap, something not really seen in the ground forces, note too the wear of the obsolete marksmanship badge, wonder why he's wearing it, as he's a recently trained recruit circa 1944.

Another full color Cav patch in combat sighting, this time on a Kit Carson, circa 1969, curious as he wears staff sergeant rank inked on the helmet cover, no explanation for that one, certainly don't think he was a E-6, in fact not sure if Kit Carson's were even given grades, you know not like the old Indian Scouts in the old west days.
