Yuma Army Air Field

From my collection, a decal featuring the Disney-designed insignia for the Yuma Army Air Field Gunnery School. The image pictures a coyote firing a .50 calibre machine gun.

The Yuma A.A.F. was built by the Army Air Corps in 1928 and was originally known as Fly Field. During World War II the field was used as a training facility for Army Air Force pilots and bomber crew.

When WW II ended, Yuma A.A.F. closed. The airfield later re-opened as the Vincent Air Force base, later became a Marine Corps Air Station and when the Marine Corps left the site became the Yuma International Airport.
