Photographed when he was very young prior to WW1 is Pedro Del Valle, a heavy hitter in WW2. He was a Banana Wars vet, and helped write amphibious warfare doctrine. He led the 11th Regiment at Guadalcanal, and later the famed 1st Marine Division during the Okinawa Campaign.
