Paul,
I feel the exact same way about your SOD collection. You know...both are kind of the same, just differnet time periods.

Decided to post a few more displays today. First one is a London Bridge Trading Company vest (Model LBT 1961A) on a US Navy badged ACU. Oddly enough...the ACU is dated 2004. Early date.

Next is a 173rd Airborne Display. This display has a Woodland IBA and a Woodland RACK. DCU is named to a Sgt. who made the combat jump into Iraq in 2003. This one is for you Merc!

Next display is a S O Tech chest rig worn over a Woodland IBA. This one is missing a few magazine pouches, but I have them stored away in a box.

Not a clue. I think it is some sort of morale pouch in reference to the Spartans or some sort of 300 movie reference.

Next display is a named 3-Color FLC vest with pouches worn over a 3-Color IBA. This FLC is named and is exactly how the soldier had it set-up. Here's the kicker....I KNOW I have the soldier's DCU, but can't seem to find it anywhere.

I guess I'm funny that way. I always go after items for my collection that are used and abused. When I do a display...I want it to have that used look. Obviously, not all items can be used and there are times that you have to settle for a new/mint item. However, I'll always have these mint items in reserve for trade or sale when a used one appears on the market.

Before anyone jumps all over me for my above statement....... each collector has to find his/her own preference for condition of their collectibles. I just choose to buy used/abused items because, in my eyes, they make better display material. I know some collectors who will buy only mint items. I know some who will buy both mint and used examples. Then there are some, like me, who like only used items. To each his own.

Very nice 173rd display. ;)

The only thing that was missing from that DCU was the small Italian made American flag that was so common on 173rd Airborne uniforms. I found one of those smaller flags on my trip to Ft. Bragg. I am waiting on my lovely wife to sew it on for me.

It was another beautiful evening in Kentucky, so I decided to snap a few more pictures of my displays. The first one is a mid to late 1990's SF. The jacket is a very faded black 4 pocket jacket with a black LBV (thought to be made by AWS). The inside has a tag, but it has been trashed due to heavy, repeated use.

Pics of the back and the tag. I will add that the LBV has not been dyed black, rather it was made from black material. The yokes may have been green at one time and dyed black though.

Up next is one of my Blackwater PSD (Personal Security Detail) displays. This set came directly from a Blackwater employee who did four deployments overseas. I was able to obtain most of his items. The vest shown is a Blackhawk STRIKE vest worn over top of a 5.11 Tactical Blackwater shirt.

I know many people have strong feelings about Blackwater. However, I feel that contractors are an important part of the story in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Let's hope for more sunny days down there to see more.

Another pretty day outside here in Kentucky. Decided to take a couple more pictures of some of my new gear. The first one up is a heavily used Blackhawk LRAK worn over a modified DCU.
