disneydave Posted July 7, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2007 The image in this post was created in 1944 by a Disney artist for the War Manpower Commission. The illustration was used on a color poster and in a magazine advertisement. The WMC was responsible for the movement of workers from civilian to defense jobs. During the war there was a shortage of workers as the male population was either drafted or voluntarily enlisted in the armed forces. The illustration was created in the hopes the image would convince some workers to stay at the job they were trained to do, even if a higher paying job was offered elsewhere.
