Bank Vault Posted July 4, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2007 were all of the jet pilot survival knives made by cammillus in Vietnam dated? Picked up one that I think is Vietnam era with the bluish white navy paint o n the butt of it and the stone missing. No other markings though besides the maker on the blade. Greg Robinson Posted July 4, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 4, 2007 CAMILLUS took over the contract from MARBLES in the late 1950's and was the sole contractor until the late 1960's. The earliest knives had a 6" blade, marked on blade, and not dated. In 1962 the blades were shortened to 5" and they continued to just put a maker mark on blade and no date. It wasn't until Jan 1967 that the markings were moved to the hexagonal pommel and the date added. Greg
Bank Vault Posted July 5, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted July 5, 2007 Ok so I can't positively say but I can assume. What about on the Camillus Ka Bar looking fighting knives from the Vietnam era? Got mine from the estate of a Marine veteran who served in Nam but one can never be to sure. It says US and has Camillus below it. Are them genuine markings? Are there anymore markings? If he got the knife during the Viet Nam war then it should be marked "US / CAMILLUS NY". They dropped the "NY" mark in 1974. Greg
