LTC Martin D. Howell

This jacket belonged to LTC Martin D. Howell who Commanded the 1st Squadron of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam from September 1966 until May 1967. This jacket is about as plain as they come but it is one of my favorites. When the 11th ACR showed up in Vietnam their shoulder insignia had not yet been authorized and this jacket never had any attached.
I will post copies of LTC Howell's citations for his numerous valor awards while serving with this unit. The jacket is still stained with dirt and sweat and really talks to you.

Hey Jason, are you still in possession the jacket? Would love to talk, thanks.

That was my dad's commander in Vietnam.
Dad was the adjutant and S3 Air for 1st Sqn, 11th ACR. He deployed over to VN with the 11th and returned in April of 67, I believe.

Howell graduated from the Command and General Staff College in 1963, and here's his class portrait, here he's in his Blues.
