Gentlemen,

I thought I would show an identified Loyal Legion Medal that was awarded for Civil War service on 13 February 1907. Here is a view of the boxed medal along with a tobacco silk showing the medal.

The medal is numbered on the suspension ring and is accompanied by a duplicate copy of the numbered award record for this particular medal. Major Champlin Loomis Underwood was awarded the medal by the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States posthumously. Maj. Underwood served as an officer from 1848 through the Civil War. He was Major of the 18th US Infantry from 14 May 1861, having also served with the 4th Infantry.
