VALERY Posted June 25, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 25, 2007 Bonjour, Great and so scarce uniforms. For your two pockets shirt, is it an heavy weight and HBT twill ? I'm not sure but I read something in the collar, is it a size mark or somtehing else? Great, great Valery
Spike Posted June 25, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted June 25, 2007 These uniforms were made in a poplin like material, very light weight. On the pants there is a stamp that says SE ASIATIC SIZE MEDIUM, 2 pocket shirt stamped the same but is a LARGE, the 4 pocket has a L in the collar. vintageproductions Posted June 26, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 26, 2007 Man, these type uniforms are very hard to find. In all the pieces we have handled, I believe we have only had three pieces, and that was way before photo proof of these appeared as SOG. I believe that in Jason Hardy & Mike Tucker's first SOG book they are photos of these uniforms being worn.
BEAST Posted June 26, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 26, 2007 Spike, Thanks for showing these. I picked up this shirt in the 1980's at a gun show in Columbus, OH. I was told that it was an NVA shirt but could never find any real info on it. I almost got rid of it a few times, but just a few months ago I was told by another forum member that it could be CIDG. What reference book shows this? Any? I have looked through the basics (Stanton, ete.) but haven't found it listed. Thanks again for showing these and thanks to the other folks who have chimed in! VALERY Posted June 26, 2007 Share #7 Posted June 26, 2007 Bonjour, I think I have a third model: I could find some pictures of these sets in situation, for example P41 in the Plaster's SOG or P104 (worn by Chuck Hein),159, 161 and 231 in Greco's Running Recon. A friend of mine found a jacket (2 pockets with 2 buttons) at the flee market in Paris but the twill is heavyweight and it has a cigarettes pocket on the left harm. My shirt is lightweight too and as for myself fits an asian medium. It belongs to sergeant assigned during a short time to special task force A362. An augmentation of 20LRP's from US units was temporarily attached to the TF. My model appears few times worn by CIDG and SF for example in Greco's book page 164 or even in Hardy's SOG, worn without name tape by Greco P 78. As for myself these sets 've been developped by CISO and made off shore. Strangely, laotian troops worn the 2 pockets in the early 70's Very interesting post and hope to know more...
