tredhed2 Posted June 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 30, 2007 This is a pretty rare jacket - neat to find one with an armored patch on it. See? There are still some pretty interesting finds out there.
Jim Baker Posted July 1, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 1, 2007 Al, This is really a great jacket, and as Dave pointed out, rare. Best thing is, it's armor!! PS - I got the 22. Excellent!!
SteveR Posted July 1, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 1, 2007 I really like the theater made jackets. There is no doubt about this type having been there. Great find. Steve
glenm Posted July 2, 2007 Share #5 Posted July 2, 2007 As a matter of specifics, that isn't a British-made Ike Jacket, but a British Army 1937 Pattern Battle Dress Blouse that has been utilised by a GI. Cheers, Glen.
SARGE Posted July 2, 2007 Share #6 Posted July 2, 2007 Quite right... not an "Ike" jacket at all but British issue.
Tankpatches Posted July 3, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted July 3, 2007 Quite right... not an "Ike" jacket at all but British issue. Thanks guys, for setting me straight, I went and checked the label Battle dress 1940 Pattern
glenm Posted July 3, 2007 Share #8 Posted July 3, 2007 Ignore the label - these are notoriously wrong. It is a '37 Pattern BD with pleated pockets and hidden flap buttons and enclosed front placket. The actual 1940 Pattern BD has plain (flat) pockets with simple flaps (with exposed buttonholes straight through the flap, and a front placket with exposed buttonholes as well. Cheers, Glen. Jim Baker Posted July 3, 2007 Share #9 Posted July 3, 2007 Al, Man, what a bummer. Oh well, I guess you could just wrap it up and mail it to me.
glenm Posted July 3, 2007 Share #10 Posted July 3, 2007 As a matter of interest (?), the Mourne Clothing Company Ltd used to be in Larne, Northern Ireland: http://www.larnetimes.co.uk/fillers?articleid=2913924 Cheers, Glen.
