Hey JB,

Looks straight to me, you just have to verify the campaign credits.

Any name or history to bring it 'alive'?

The date is 22 July BTW......

Hi Leif,

No, no name. I bought it from a fellow member. Just bought it, so I don't have it in hand yet.

Thanks on the date. Stark sent me a flyer. Don't know how he got my address?? It will be nice just to walk through again. It's been awhile.

Leif,

If the guy landed with the division at Normandy, and made it all the way through, the ribbons are right.

BATTLE HONORS:

Algeria-French Morocco

Sicily

Normandy

Northern France

Rhineland

Ardennes-Alsace

Nice jacket, Jim.

BAR-gunner in one of the 2nd AD's Armored Infantry Regiments?

There is also one combat leader stripe? Or has this one another meaning?

Looks nice thumbsup.gif

Are there any marks of a CIB ?

I think as a BAR gunner and in an AIB as an Infantryman from Normandy to the end, he should have earned the CIB.

Regards,

Stephan

Has it a laundry mark somewhere?

Too bad it isn't id-ed, would be great to look up some info on this BAR-gunner. Someone here on the forum probably has the roster of the men in the AIRs of the 2nd AD.

Hey Guys,

Like I said, I don't have it yet, but look forward to inspecting it closely.

My thought was also AIR, and that a CIB should be there.

Erwin, good question on the Combat Leader stripe. Is it unusual to have only one?? Anyone know?

Thanks!!

We had a discussion a while back about single vs double green leader stripes. I think the conclusion is that double is far more common, but I have one with a single -- 28th ID.

CNY Militaria

Jim,

I was going to go for that one, until I saw you were the bidder. Its a very nice one. I suppose the only drawback is that small stain on the front. I love the combat leader stripe on the left sleeve, you don't see that too often!

Justin

BTW: Do you have any interest in the 7th AD?

Jim,

Yes, the two stripes are more common on the jackets.

I believe one stripe existed too.

In all, a fine looking jacket (would be even better if 4AD) w00t.gif;)

As soon as you get it, put some additonal pictures in here, ok? Thanks.

Gil,

Thanks. That's good to know. thumbsup.gif

Justin,

Thanks for the break. I was surprised it went that high. If it's ARMOR, I like it. But it's gotta be WWII era. :)

Erwin,

I have the sellers photos, what do you want to see? I'm working on 4th AD. Due to the budget though, it's got to be something that "grabs" me. I'm not really a uniform collector (as you can tell by my vast knowledge), but I seem to be picking a few up now.

I have an idea of a certain 4th AD uniform that would "grab you" :).

Justin

Is this one I've seen before? :) Post it please. I'm getting senile and can't remember all this good stuff.

It just occurred to me that with three Presidential Unit Citations, it would be possible to narrow it down some??

Jim -

Since you're not quite into uniforms yet, here's one of my favorites for the 8th AD.

It is the way it was when I obtained it; I know the ribbons are out of order, but I don't mess with stuff. The veteran was S/Sgt G. Hedalen, and I have his original HD (15 Nov 45) from AUS. It notes he was in the Svc Co, 737th Tank Bn upon discharge. He was in the 8th AD probably as a high-point replacement.

I know the THUNDERING HERD TAB is sewn over his chevrons; he probably was leaving as soon as it was sewn on...... and the Ike is laundry marked.

Closeups are in the next post.

a very nicely added 737 - good example for comparison to some of the 1970s-1990s machine-added #s w/ gauze backs made for collectors. Have shown some of these under Patch Fakes and Repros elsewhere on this forum.

Thanks! I hope others enjoy it.

Dave,

That is a killer jacket. You really don't see many uniform jackets with Armor Battalion patches.

The Ike arrived today. It's sweet. :)
