Here is something I stumbled on. I typically only collect 101st Airborne items but I thought this one looked awesome so I could not leave it behind. It came with the uniform & sam browne belt as seen as well as a picture of the Col. wearing the uniform. It is ID'd to A.W. Foreman. Any info on him is appreciated.

Thanks,

Nice uniform -- that's another I would have bought had I seen it offered.

Albert W. Foreman (O942) was born in Delaware 11 Aug 1874 and was appointed from there in the 1st Del Infy in 1898. He was later a member of the 41st US Infy -- he made CPT in '10, MAJ in '17, LTC (Nat'l Army) in '17 in '18. He reverted to MAJ after the war, the made LTC (RA) in '20 and COL in '27 -- retired in '38 with 40 years service.

Won DSM, as we see -- clearly was vet of SAW, Mex Border, WWI, etc. I assume he was caled back to active duty with 2nd Svc Command. Not sure about 12th Infy insignia then.

DSM was for outstanding service as Asst Chief of Staff, FIrst section of 5th Army Corps. It look like the French style of ribbon he is wearing.

Good luck with further research.

Very nice uniform. Any idea what happened to his medals?

Kurt

Thanks everyone for the kind words on the uniform. Gil, thank you for the info, it is most appreciated. Kurt, the medals were not there regretably. I have left my contact info in case they come across them.

Thanks again,

Did anyone else notice that this was a Qm-made coat? I suspect he sent his measurements to Philadelphia QM Depot and they made it to fit. These are fairly unusual in this era. I suspect very large or very large soldiers had theirs custom made at PQD also. I know they did this in the '50's.

Jake-

Nice uniform. The 2nd Service Command patch being embroidered on twill is unusual. Are the DI's hallmarked on the reverse?

Thanks Kurt...Yes the DI's are Hallmarked. I looked at them quickly when I picked it up and I want to say Dondero is the maker. I can take pics if anyone is interested.

Hope this helps.
