Mower:

You ought to try to obtain the manuals on the M79. The technical manuals are TM 9-1010-205-10 (Operator's Manual) and TM 9-1010-205-24 (Maintenance).

I don't have those manuals around here but I would expect that the info you are looking for would be found in them. There are a number of places on the web that sell USGI weapons manuals. This place usually has most small arms manuals available:

Hope this helps you.

FM 23-31, 40-MM GRENDADE LAUNCHER, M79, 10 May 1965 shows just a bore brush, combo tool and oil and grease case, all in a special pouch as the cleaning supplies. All the parts are pretty easy to find, just search for them on the internet. The plastic oil/grease case looks like the standard one used on the rifles at the time. The case to keep the items in from the 1960s is canvas with a two snap flap. They changed to a nylon type one in the 1970s. The cases were made to go on the side of a M56 ammo pouch like a grenade.

I have a live M79 and a ton of junk. What do you want to know?

I even have a few TMs on pdf if you'd like them emailed.
