2nd Battalion, 501PIR/101AB M1 Helmet

Found in a hamlet outside Bastogne around 1953, I have tried to ID the 'Louisiana Swamp Rat' for many years, sadly without results...

Incredible 501st M1!

What does it say on the back? "color me gone"?

Hopefully you can pin down an ID for it!

Very interesting M1, Johan. It's the second swivel bail I've seen found in Bastogne. The other was a 501st shell too...

Can, Meat & Canteen, M1910 (Aluminum), Made in Belgium...

The aluminum Meat Can was made in Belgium for the US Army right near or just after the end of WW2...

The Cup was also made in Belgium, but the markings lead me to believe it could very well have been made in the 1950s or even 60s...

Many items were made and supplied to US forces by the Belgian industry right after the liberation... Amongst other things I have a 1945 Jerry Can, a Wooden Folding Field Table and a M1941 Field Stove which are shown in earlier posts of this topic...
