is now officially open. The $110 million, 80,000 square foot facility occupies two buildings on the grounds of the Presidio in San Francisco.

The Museum documents the story of Walt Disney, from his birth to his death, some of his failures and all of his accomplishments.

Walt's story is told through the liberal use of his voice (courtesy the hundreds of interviews he gave over the course of his life), state of the art technology, interactive displays, dozens of film clips and literally hundreds and hundreds of very rare artifacts. (I recall being told there are some 200 video monitors and flat screen televisions in use in the Museum).

Gallery number six covers the war years. I am pleased to say that at least 75% of the three display cases in this gallery showcase items from my own collection - insignia and home front related.

I was invited to attend two pre-opening preview events at the end of September and had the most amazing time. To see my items on display, with the "Courtesy..." tag on each loaned item was such a charge! And it was cool to stand and watch the reactions of the guests as they looked over my artifacts in those cases and to hear what they had to say.

If any of you plan a trip to San Fran, or live in the area, make sure to stop in for a visit...and be prepared to spend at least 5 - 6 hours.

I went to San Francisco this year primarily to see the WWII exhibit at the Walt Disney museum. I knew Disney Dave had a lot of items on exhibit and the majority of the WWII items were from him. The museum is first class, large, entertaining and professionally done. The location is as beautiful as it gets in the presidio. In one section of the museum is a large picture window with a stunning view of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is not too far of a hike if you want to walk to and across the bridge (which I did not do because I'm afraid of heights.) Of course I wanted the WWII section to be even bigger but there were a lot of items thanks to Dave and some video clips of WWII cartoons. The museum takes several hours to see. The history of Walt's life is fascinating and many of the projects he worked on over the years were very surprising.
