Pack Rat Posted October 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2009 Hey gang, I just purchased a large lot of GI stuff and a pair of dog tags were included. They are modern and I don't want to own something so personal. They read: PIERCE CARNITA Y. XXX-XX-XXX O POS BAPTIST Does someone have access to a data base to see if this person is still alive. I want to return them to the family. I DO NOT want them, but I think it would be disrespectful to throw them out. Your help would be greatly appreiciated. Regards, -D
QED4 Posted October 12, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 12, 2009 You have just published Mr. Pierce's Social Security number on the internet, I am sure he will appreciate that.

Pack Rat Posted October 13, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted October 13, 2009 I just removed the SSN for privacy. Thanks for the heads up. I didn't mean to publish someones private information. I thought it was his service number. -D
StevenL Posted October 13, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 13, 2009 You can search for his SSN in an online death index. If he doesn't turn up in the search he's still alive. http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/
CNY Militaria Posted October 13, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 13, 2009 Active duty Army members here have access to the info on AKO, however I doubt anyone is going to reveal it due to potential security issues. I would just keep trying google to narrow it down.

USAFnav Posted October 26, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 26, 2009 You have just published Mr. Pierce's Social Security number on the internet, I am sure he will appreciate that. Yet another good reason to go back to service or serial numbers and stop the insanity of having our SSANs plastered all over our records, dog tags, id cards, etc. Pete
