Brig Posted October 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2009 Just picked up this gold Gunners rank, USMC. Rear marked with the Meyers shield and USMC359...not the typical M over 9 post-war Meyers shield though. Both pins broken. I'm thinking maybe 1950s? any seconds? teufelhunde.ret Posted November 10, 2009 Share #17 Posted November 10, 2009 some fantastic insignia...why the silver varient? what uniform was that worn with? I cannot recall any of the other services using "gunner" insignia. Can it be an unfinished or was the finish stripped from the insignia for some reason ?
roadrunner Posted November 10, 2009 Share #18 Posted November 10, 2009 The silver Marine Gunner is a old type. See below, taken from the "Uniform Regulations United States Marine Corps 1922". cwnorma Posted February 21, 2010 Share #24 Posted February 21, 2010 Marine Gunner F was a wartime warrant and reverted to his enlisted status in Fall 1919. I imagine the photograph was taken in 1919 just as Mr F was about to revert to First Sergeant.
