coastie Posted May 17, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2007 There is an thrift outlet near me were they sell stuff by the pound. Occasionally I'll find some tidbit here and there, mostly Home Front related. Usually the Vultures/Hyhenas get to the stuff before I do. But I was able to snagged the following because they were seperated each other and buried in the dislay case. Cost? $5 apiece, enjoy.
jeremiahcable Posted May 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2007 Sweeeeettt find Coastie! I love finding things in antique stores that are underpriced. I have a secret Army Air Corps collection that I feed that way. Thanks for sharing! Jeremiah
Steve B. Posted May 17, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 17, 2007 Both are very nice items, but I don't think they go together. The goggles are not for aviation, they are for ski/mountain troops. Enjames book shows them on page 153 and says they were called "Goggles, Ski-Mountain, Stock No. 74-G-79." Steve

On the leather nose piece there is FGCO stamped on it.

General Apathy Posted May 17, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 17, 2007 Hi Coastie, the marking on the goggles ' FGCO' is the Foster Grant Co., famous for sunglasses, and the goggles are indeed mountain troops. Cheers ( Lewis )
