CNY Militaria Posted August 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2009 I purchased this on ebay a few months ago dirt cheap due to a poor listing. It is named to Col. Harry F. Thompson inside, and based on the name and insignia, it is clear the owner is BG Thompson. I added the ribbon bar, US devices and stars for display (newer ones until I add period replacements). I still need to write NARA and see if anything turns up on him. 1940 - 1942 Attached to War Department General Staff 1942 - 1943 Attached to Tank Destroyer Center 1943 - 1946 Commanding General US Forces Adak, Alaska 1946 Retired
louie Posted August 25, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 25, 2009 Yes, this is one that came out of my rag searches! I posted it on Ebay, and usually don't put a high amount on something unless it's dear to my heart!! I actually learned about him being a general here, when I also picked up a former Marine general's blouse. Yes, even general's land up in the rags! I liked the Marine one more since that guy fought in Nicaragua, WW2 and Korea, and then retired. I remember the stink when I posted a correspondents jacket that many said was a fake. Most who have seen it since said, it isn't a fake, but a real one w/ theatre made patch. The General's jacket ran me 5.00, as did the Marine one, and the correspondents jacket too. Never know what you will pick out of those mills. This guys jacket came out, maybe ten years ago.

TDResearcher Posted November 18, 2014 Share #5 Posted November 18, 2014 I just saw that BG Harry F. Thompson's uniform is currently on Ebay. I run the www.tankdestroyer.net website and I am always looking for veterans to include on the site. I am wondering if anyone has information about his life outside of the service? -Rob
Baron3-6 Posted November 18, 2014 Share #6 Posted November 18, 2014 The original poster CNY Militaria is likely the seller on ebay - send him a private message.
