teufelhunde.ret Posted August 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2009 This gem showed up on Ebay Monday morning, it took a bit to ID the left emblem as the picture you see is not very good. After conferring with another collector, we did indeed determine it was made for use on the Patrol Jacket. From seller description: This is a set of 2 WWII US Marine Corps sterling silver Eagle, Globe, and Anchor Insignias. One insignia measures 1 1/8” high and the other is 15/16” high. Both have a screw post and wheel on the back and are in very good condition. On the back of the larger one is the word “Sterling” (Part of the word is missing), an Eagle logo and the letters “HH”. On the small one, the word “Sterling” is on the screw wheel. Sadly Wednesday morning the auction was closed - someone got to the seller - and likely at a fraction of what its real worth. Here is a comparison view with the only other one in our reference section, located here; http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ind...showtopic=10086 Goes to show there are still genuine rarities out there to be found. s/f Darrell
