The only reference I could find to the 10th Cav in Viet Nam was H Troop, this is most likely from A troop 2nd Squadron 10th Cav which was part of the 7th Div in Korea. I have never seen this patch worn as a shoulder patch, usually it was worn over the left pocket and the 7th Div patch was worn on the shoulder.

Found a reference to the 10th Cavalry Regiment "A" troop entering Vietnam on Sept 15th 1966. Could this be the same unit?

I spoke to the original owner and he thinks he moved the patch from top of the pocket years ago. It had an armored patch on the shoulder prior but who knows which one. I am going to put it back above the pocket where it was originally. If you get on the 10th Cavalry site you can see where
"A" troop was deployed to Vietnam in 1966 and was attached to the 4th Infantry Div. It has a reference to battle action with "A" troop tanks in 1966. Charlie

From what I can research off the computer this patch is for the 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st squadron, "A" troop deployed to Vietnam with the 4th Infantry Division in 1966. "A" troop was designated as a recon unit with a tank element attached. They were stationed at Tuy Hoa at the 1st Brigade base camp. Their first engagement with the enemy was during operation Francis Marion, 6th April - 11th Oct. 1966, with two tanks from "A" troop in the lead.

Can anyone advise if they have seen this patch on the shoulder before? Charlie

Well I found out the story on this shirt. The prior owner says the 10/A patch was on the chest and a 49th armored was on the sleeve. He removed the 49th armored because it was torn and put this on the sleeve, removing it from the chest. I can see where an armored patch was on the chest, Sew holes. Does anyone know if this sounds right, would a 49th armored be on the sleeve with a 10 Cav. regiment "A" troop on the chest? Charlie
