kyhistorian01 Posted July 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2009 I was recently given a grouping pictured under the grouping topic of the Chief Field Clerk fo the 83rd Division in France during WWI. As part of the grouping I was given two pieces of field gear. One has been identified as a Meat Can poutch, that was modified by the addition of a Y style strap so it could be carried on a belt. The other appears to be a dispatch case, but it has the British Broad Arrow symbole with a US underneath and a 1918 dat along with what appears to be a british manufactuer name. Is this a dispatch case? Was it made by the British for our troops? can anyone tell me more about it? Thanks, Robert

doyler Posted July 13, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 13, 2009 The bag is British made for US issue.I usually see these in officers groups and they are similiar to the WW2 mussette bag.Officers would carry personal items and essential equipment in these bags.
