teufelhunde.ret Posted July 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 10, 2009 Description from ebay sale of last night, pic's and description says it all: Original 1930s USMC Colonel of the Staff Shoulder Knot with Aiguillette Here is an original set of United States Marine Corps Colonel Of The Staff shoulder knots with Aiguillette. Knots were worn in this configuration as specified in the 1922 and 1937 Uniform Regulations. Prior to 1922 knots worn by staff Officers were without the EGA. Each of these knots has the EGA, bullion Colonels insignia, Quartermasters insignia, and USMC button. The EGAs are marked STERLING. They have pin back fasteners. The quartermaster insignia are also pin backed. Their enamel finish is perfect. The bullion eagles are held on by straight pins. The gold buttons are spring loaded and are attached to a hook on the bottom that hooks onto the uniform. The knots are constructed of ¼ inch gold bullion, backed with blue wool. The tips of the aiguillettes, or pencils as they are properly known, are beautiful. Each has two Marine Corps emblems on them. The top portion is lined with red felt. Condition is excellent. This is truly a rare set. I have owned these for over 20 years and have recently decided to sell them.
