776thamtrac Posted April 22, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2007 Hey guys, This was a flea market find about eight years ago. Theodore Stamirowski appears to have been a first generation American. He went into combat with Co L 407th as a replacement and was killed his first day at the front Nov. 30th 1944 along the Siegfried Line. Most of the letters in the box are to and from his sister. A vast majority of them being written in Polish. Amazingly I happened to run across a web page today that tells exactly how Stamirowski was killed. I'll put a link to it here at the end if anyone is interested. Anyway very sad to find these memories for sale at a flea market of all places. Ted's sister kept in very close contact with a family in Margraten until at least the 1960's. The family wrote her regulary and looked after Ted's grave. Enclosed are also letters from them. http://carol_fus.tripod.com/army_hero_grant_miswald.html

ADMIN Posted April 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 22, 2007 Would be great if someone here could translate those documents. But translated or not, it is a nice find. Thanks for sharing!
776thamtrac Posted April 23, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted April 23, 2007 I agree, I'd love to have them translated some day. But none the less they found a good home and I'm happy to have them in my collection.
