Has anyone heard of this seller:

http://search.ebay.c...freefallQQhtZ-1

He has a huge collection of wings for sale, some I like some I don't, but there are some incredibly rare pieces, and some ( in my opinion ) junk. I asked but he won't reveal the "old collector's" name.

Yes that's a fake,( in my humble opinion) I believe there are 56 (?) of these and I read that all but one are in various museums. I personally don't like the looks of several of the WWI wings.

OK if not a fake, a "later copy" if you want to give it the benefit of the doubt..

As with any collection, there's probably some ok stuff in there, but a quick first glance at the listings suggests the collection is a mindfield of fakes.

At these prices, they just about all have to be repos. Look at all of the incised "Sterling" marks. All the ones I looked at, I would say are not original.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Wow This guy hit the jackpot I added up his sold items and from the 19th to the 26th he sold almost $18,000 worth of wings.

I need a learning lesson. What scared everyone off of this set of wings? http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=110116680979 What made you say that they were not worth $10.00?

I once owned an original uniform which included the cap and had many of those badges and mine looked different from those shown on eBay. If those are original, they really do not look like those I once possessed. I have seen some nice restrikes of rare onsignia made with real sterling silver from what may have been original dies? I collect mainly photographs of rare insignia now and have either traded or given away whatever original insignia I had years ago. As for the Civil Air Patrol, Lee Ragan would be someone who knows about their insignia, he wrote a nice publication some years ago on C.A.P. insignia. From what I gather about eBay is that if someone tells others about suspected items, the whistle-blower gets suspended by eBay instead of the people selling suspect items. This forum at least lets people know what to be on the alert about, thank goodness! Keep up the good work! :)

The biggest problem is that the fronts are of a pinback, and the back pics are of a clutchback http://www.usmilitar...tyle_emoticons/default/lol.gif
