Anyone know what kind of scope this is?

Only picture I have. The guy selling it says it is broken, not sure what exactly what though.

Almost looks like a surveyors scope from a transit setup

He did not say, but I'm supposed to take a look at it tomorrow. From the look of it, I wasn't sure if it was even a scope, but that is what he says it is. Any idea what type of markings or company names to look for?

Maybe the company names Weaver, Lyman, or Unertl.

It sure looks like a surveying scope and unless it's marked with a military contract number and a WWII date I don't imagine it's worth $10.

Thanks for the input guys. It really does look like the scopes pictured. Unless I can verify wartime use (like a date), I'm going to pass.
