River Patrol Posted April 13, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 13, 2007 This brass plaque piece is about 6 inches in diameter. Does anyone know this unit? Obviously Naval Air Torpedo Unit but beyond that I know nothing about the unit or where they were located.
River Patrol Posted April 13, 2007 Author Share #2 Posted April 13, 2007 I wasn't sure where to put this topic, but it is aviation related and not a patch insignia, so hopefully this is the best place.
dustin Posted April 13, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 13, 2007 The NAVAIR (Naval Air Systems Command) was instituded in 1966 replacing the BUWEPS but that may not be what Nav Air means on the plaque,if so then this plague is post 1966.By the picture on the plaque seeing a parachute on the torpedo it is most likely a 1960's+ era being dropped from a larger aircraft.
