After moving in November I finally have started to unpack my stuff and inhabit my new War room. It is a bit larger than my last set up and has a nice open floor plan. I have grand ideas for this one and plan on taking my time building cases for my collection. But for now to get some of the clutter and boxes out of the way I started to let the guys check out there new surroundings. Here it is so far, I plan on using alot more of the wall space this time. I have been dabbling a bit trying to build a display as a tribute to my uncle Bill and his service as a Corpsman in the 3rd Marines, and my 101st collection is now starting to see the light of day again. It is finally starting to feel like home.. Enjoy Paul

full mannequin with combat load for 21st Marines during the invasion of Guam. I am still looking for a helmet cover and shelter half, to complete this. The USMC green uniform is from a guy who served in the same company as my uncle during the same time period..

No thats a UNIS marked shovel cover one of the few things that the 21st would have marked for Guam. It is marked to the company he was assigned to as a Corpsman. My first USMC purchase was that the rest was all down hill. Paul

Got ya!!!I was thinking that after I posted as I couldnt see any openings in the area that would be cut out for a stencil.Thats what I get for posting prior to thinking.

No he was with the 21st from inception, Guadalcanal, missed Bougainville due to injury, Guam and shipped state side to train medics for the invasion of Japan. I wish more of the stuff was his, but representitive pieces are just as good..

Good morning Baker,

Very nice displays. I like certain touches on your mannequin displays--especially the 5 o'clock shadow. Excellent 101st display. This should get some attention from the airborne troops. Looking forward to seeing more. Jack Angolia

Great Job. Love the 101 displays. You should "camo up" you full manequin guy's face - like a D Day jumper. That would look great.

Played around with the WW1 wall today for a bit, not sure if it's the way I want it to stay and this is just a temporary set up as the final room for this is not yet completed. I had to try to display all my 90th Aero stuff, and one of my more favorite non flying officer uniform. Enjoy..Paul

Ok some close ups of the 90th stuff, my collection of 90th stuff really centers around a trunk grouping to Lt. Arthur Parr, it includes his painted trunk, uniform, misc, papers including his ID booklet, and officers service book. The painted trunk has the 90th Pair of dice painted on the cover. This once belonged to Dennis Jackson, and I am very glad I picked it up a few years back. I was also able to find a grouping to Lt. Pike who flew Lt. parr in combat during WW1. It is mainly photo's and document grouping, but still nice to have a pilot/observer teams items.

The Parr grouping also has an original squadron history, a trench art ink blotter, his bino's and case, maps case, misc loose insignia. The other 90th groupings include the Pike grouping which is the larger vertical case, Willard Carson who was in 2nd flight, there are other items of his but I don't have them unpacked. And Lt. Alexander Grier's photo album and a few documents and his combat used French altimeter. The Carson grouping is on the left, and Grier is on the right.

Next is my 96th Aero Squadron ordnance officer Lt. Vivian Ludden. He was one of the groud personnel and was instrumental in turning the Breguet 14's from observation ships into bombing ships. One of the specific things he designed and worked on was the screw gear bomb rack. There is some fantastic film of him supervising the loading of bombs on a Br 14. The uniform is a light weight wool uniform, which someone decided to iron and discolored the fabric before I got it. It came with his named Sam Brown belt, and 96th Aero style flight helmet. The goggles are not his, but put there for display. The frame behind it includes original 96th Aero photos and a map of one of the sectors bombed by the squadron.

The uniform has a beautiful 1st Army Aviation patch, Guant Ordnance insignia, and a French made pin back Victory medal ribbon.
