triplecanopy Posted July 5, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 5, 2013 Here is a Norsid hallmarked parachute badge. I finally figured out how to reduce the resolution, but it makes the photo small. I hope you can see it. All the best, Robert
triplecanopy Posted December 20, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 20, 2017 Here is a better view of the NORSID CO hallmark on the basic parachute badge. Note that the NORSID hallmark is stamped over the STERLING mark and STERLING is also stamped on the right side. Also take notice of the "bite" out of the left wing at the bottom. All NORSID wings that I have encountered have this mysterious bite. It appears there was a die fault and an extra piece of the wing was removed. I have not seen this on any other wings. triplecanopy Posted December 20, 2017 Share #6 Posted December 20, 2017 This is obviously a NORSID made parachute badge that does not have the NORSID hallmark. Note the "bite" at the bottom of the badge.
triplecanopy Posted December 20, 2017 Share #7 Posted December 20, 2017 Here are four NORSID parachute wings that all have the missing "bite" visible at the bottom. All of these wings are hallmarked NORSID except one as shown above in previous post. This is just one of those unexplained mysteries. Why was that defect allowed to pass inspectors? Anyone have more information about this, please add.
camopara Posted June 18, 2020 Share #8 Posted June 18, 2020 Slightly different Norsid hallmark. NYC instead of NY and sterling marked. Still has the bite out of the wing though...
