I suggested that WWI Nerd post a separate topic about the webbing colours. He should be reposting his text shortly.

Here is a pic showing the pocket flaps on the two belts.

I have been thinking about these belts and I had an idea.  Could these belts be simply a designation change and not a redesign?  I came up with this as I was looking at my Model 1910 Infantry belts and the pocket change is the same as the belts shown in the picture but still designated and the same belt.  I was looking through the 1913, 1916, and 1917 copies of the Price lists of Ordnance stores which details each item in the Army inventory and gives prices of each component.  In the 1913 edition the Model 1910 mounted belt is listed and it is also in the other two with the note that those with pockets removed are designated with an M indicating modified.  The later two books also have the Model 1914 Mounted belt listed with the same components of the regular 1910 Infantry belt but no mention os a second model of the Model 1910 mounted belt.  Could the belt we think of as the  second version of the 1910 belt simply be the earliest examples of the 1914 Mounted belt and not a completely different belt?   If the spec drawing are out there I would love to take a look at them.

Just a thought.

Bob
