Very nice! Are any of them pinback, or are they all clutchback?

Andrew

They are all clutchback.. I have another WO rank that is pinback, but it's not in the display, it would be alot harder to put in, lining it up and all.

The display is made of about 3 inch foam board so the clutches aren't ingaged, the pins are just pushed through, but not completely. They are holding themselves in without the clutches.

Very nice display! thumbsup.gif I'm still looking for the current CMSgtAF in those pin-on ranks.

Some of you old timers might also remember when there were E-6 First Sergeants who wore T/Sgt. chevrons with a diamond. There were some slight size variations in some of the senior NCO ranks, which was probably just a manufacturers variation.

Very cool display.I wore the very top 3.The SRA & SGT were both E-4's.The SGT was an NCO versus the SRA being just an airman.I like the old & new CMSAF pins.

There is a CMSGTAF rank pin this is missing (I should have noticed this earlier), It was the one that replaced the original. It had three stripes on top like the newer CMSGT. The one shown on the right in the display is actually the 3rd design by adding the eagle and 2 stars in the center. The original (on the left) was used from April 1967 till 1994 when it was replaced by the 2nd design that I described above. The current design with the eagle & 2 stars was introduced 1 Nov. 2004.

This is still a very nice display!

Thanks for posting a photo of the missing chevron Firefighter. (Sure wish I could capture a pair or at least one of those hard to find CMSgtAF collar brass.)

You've done a very nice job on your collection. I wore one of the metal 3 stripe insignia on my Ridgeway fatigue cap "back in the day". You could add another row to the top three on the left. When I was in the AF the ranks were Airman 3rd Class (E-2), Airman 2nd Class (E-3), and Airman 1st Class (E-4). Also, A1c (E-4) was considered to be an NCO.

Happy New Year!

Jim
