I was trying to find some info and came up blank. Does anyone know when the Navy Recruiting Breast badge went from Recruiting Service to recruiting command? Here is an example of both. Trying to date the brass one. Thanks in advance.

I was a Navy Recruiter 1970-1970 and Im pretty sure it changed from Service to Command in 1970 as the slow down of the Draft caused the Navy to give more emphasis to recruiting.

Thanks Steve! It was hard to find. When you google Navy Recruiting Service, it puts up all the links for todays recruiters. I appreciate it. By the way, have you seen a bronze recruiting badge like this one? I have never seen one.

Never saw a bronze one. The Recruiting Service I fired had was thin stamped medal, like a beer can DI from Vietnam.

That brass badge almost looks to me like one that was not completed, missing enamel ? Possibly a factory reject, have never seen a navy all brass recruiter badge so that would make sense!

Salvage Sailor

Nice recruiting badges

The name was changed in the early 1970's and I have a grouping from a former USS VANCE & USS BORDELON sailor who finished his 20 years in a recruiting billet which included his bullion recruiting patch and plaques. I also have his boxed recruiting command badge around here somewhere. I'll post a photo when I come across it.

Salvage Sailor

He was a crewman aboard the VANCE during the notorious reign of LCDR Marcus Aurelius Arnheiter
