thorin6 Posted March 28, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2020 After I posted about my small 37mm collection, Dirt Detective offered me a fuse for the larger of the rounds that I had, just for the price of shipping. After receiving the fuse, I attempted to screw it in the round (both round and fuse are inert). It went in about half way, then stuck. It then took me about a week and a half of daily constant working to straighten the threads on both the fuse and the round, screwing in and unscrewing the fuse, until finally, the fuse screwed all the way in. This illustrates the problem of working with a 100 year old round and fuse that were meant for a one time use in the first place. The first picture shows the round and fuse, followed by a picture of the completed round. The next picture is a close up of the fuse, showing one point where i slipped with the tool and scratched the top of the fuse. Over time the scratch will fade (one hopes). thorin6 Posted March 28, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted March 28, 2020 Here is a close up of the fuse. Thanks to Dirt Detective for sending me the fuse, although there were times when I was chasing the threads that I muttered some unkind words about the fuse.
